An accident or loss abroad can be extremely stressful. Dealing with doctors or Police who do not speak English can add to the ordeal - but having the direct number of a 24-hour claims line based in England can provide some solace.
Your personal account handler at Lark is also on hand to provide advice in these situations, and it can be reassuring to hear a familiar friendly voice when you are miles from home.
In the event of serious illness or injury which requires hospital treatment, please call the Medical Emergency & Referral Services: 0044 (0) 207 173 7798.
For all other claims, such as lost baggage or damaged property, you can contact Lark directly upon your return.
Thomas French, Divisional Director of Private Client Claims at Lark, offers the following advice to help ensure a smooth claims process:
“Be sure to keep all supporting documentation relating to your loss – such as invoices, receipts and doctor’s notes. For delayed or missed departures, we’ll need written confirmation from the airline of the scheduled and actual take-off times.
"If you’re claiming for damaged property, it is important that you do not dispose of any damaged items until this has been authorised, as it will prevent underwriters from substantiating the claim.
"Similarly, do not proceed with replacement or repair until we have confirmed the authorisation to do so.
"For thefts, burglary or lost items, remember you must report the incident to the Police and obtain a crime/lost property reference number.”
In following the advice above, you bring about the best possible chance of a quick and full settlement. But rest assured, should you need any further guidance, the team at Lark will be on hand right the way through your claim.
