Another successful Lark Duathlon
On Thursday 21st September, staff from Lark, Aston Scott and insurers gathered at the picturesque Bewl Water, ready to compete at the second annual Lark Duathlon!
This year the Duathlon consisted of a 5km run, 10km run and a 15 km cycle. However, the 10km run might have been slightly longer - oops!
The organisation was fantastic, the food was great and the whole spirit of the event was brilliant - it was great to have participants from Aston Scott on the day also.
In addition to the competitions and fun, Lark was able to raise a total of £7,650 for their chosen charity, The Not Forgotten Association. Over £1000 was raised on the raffle alone, helped by the most wanted prize Mickey Flanagan tickets! The Not Forgotten Association was founded in 1920 and now supports more than 10,000 serving and ex-servicemen and women each year. Recent activities have included canoeing and sailing trips, and a track day at Brands Hatch.
The winners of each event were:
Women's 5k Run 1st Place – Susan Doherty
Women's 10K Run 1st Place – Rachel Noble, Aston Scott
Women's 15k Cycle 1st Place – Anna Aspel, Lark
Men's 5k Run 1st Place – George Cook, Travelers
Men's 10K Run 1st Place – Craig Mounser, Travelers
Men's 15k Cycle 1st Place – Tony McWilliam, Aston Scott
"It was a great day and very well organised. The activities were fun and it was great to be able to interact and get to know our fellow colleagues at Lark. The venue was lovely, and it definitely made running the 10 (11)km much more enjoyable! Well done to the organisers for raising a huge amount for such a great cause. I can’t wait to take part again next year!", said Rachel Noble, Aston Scott
A thank you from the organisers:
We are extremely grateful for all the donations we received and could never have imagined having raised this amount of money. Thanks again to all that attended and to the volunteers we couldn’t have run the day without you. Good job we are merging with Aston Scott as hopefully next year we will have some more winners on the leaderboard!
It truly was a successful event, we are all very much looking forward to next year's Duathlon!
