When it comes to insurance, most people are influenced by price. However, making a claim ultimately puts your policy to the test, and the importance of extensive cover becomes apparent.
We appreciate that claims are stressful, which is why our dedicated Claims Team concentrate on getting you back in the same position you were in before the loss, as quickly and competently as possible. Dealing with insurers, loss adjusters and, where necessary, third parties on your behalf, our Claims Team will always keep you up to date with the progress of your claim.
Our Claims Team have a proficient knowledge of all the policies Lark offer, and can therefore advise you on any aspect of a claim. In some cases, where the policy is written under a delegated authority, they are able to settle claims on behalf of the insurer. This enables us to provide a quick and efficient service. If, however, at any point during the claims process you wish us to refer your claim to insurers for their consideration we will be happy to do so.
If you do need to make a claim, please contact us at the first opportunity, as insurers require full details of your claim within a reasonable time. Alternatively, you can complete the online Claim Form, which will ensure that your claim is processed as quickly as possible. However, not all insurers accept this form, and you may need to complete another. Depending on the nature of your claim, insurers may require other documents to support your loss.
In some instances, a Loss Adjuster may be assigned to your case for their expert skills in assessing certain types of claims. They may also be appointed, by your insurer, to assist with the claim if it exceeds certain financial limits. If a Loss Adjuster is going to be appointed, we will advise you and guide you through the process.
Lost or Damaged Property
To ensure your claim is managed quickly and efficiently, please follow the steps below:
- Complete a claim form, or contact our Claims Team as soon as possible
- You may be asked for an estimate to repair or replace damaged property.
- We may be able to provide you with immediate authorisation to proceed with work, or replace items, depending on the circumstances of your claim.
- You should not proceed with replacing or repairing an item until we have confirmed the authorisation to do so. However, if temporary repairs are needed urgently to prevent further damage, you should arrange for them to be done immediately. Please ensure that you keep the invoices or receipts as they will form part of your claim.
- If your claim involves theft, burglary or lost items this must be reported to the Police, and a crime reference number obtained.
Assistance
Our office hours are Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm, and during this period you can contact the Claims Team to report or discuss your claim. Outside this time, urgent claims assistance, for new claims only, will be forwarded to a duty adviser who will provide you with the help you need there and then.
